Before choosing an aerating fountain or display fountain, it is important to understand how they work, how they oxygenate your pond and what costs and options are involved. A fountain is an investment. Anyone can search the internet for cheap fountains and ultimately purchase a homemade contraption spewing water into the air. We find it important to explain WHY OUR FOUNTAINS ARE BETTER. Most cheap fountains are built using a simply styrofoam float, a sump pump and a drilled PVC nozzle. The styrofoam will break-down and waterlog within a short time- The sump pump is not meant to run continuously. Therefore, it WILL fail prematurely and will eat up your electric in the meantime- The PVC drilled nozzle is exactly that- A PVC pipe cap that has a few holes drilled in to it to produce a pattern of water.... Hopefully, this educates you on why you should NOT purchase these cheap homemade fountains. Also, there are several competitors in the "real fountain" world. All are unbelievably dominant over the above listed homemade fountains. However, we still want to PROVE to you why ours are better!

OUR EQUIPMENT DETAILS: •28 Spray patterns available. •One-piece floats are molded of high strength polyethylene. They are impact, UV and chemical resistant. They are closed-cell, urethane foam filled and do not require assembly or water for balancing. •Spray nozzle bodies are made of powder coated aircraft grade aluminum alloy while the nozzles are made with UV resistant PVC and bronze for maximum life. •Select Series horizontal Configurations require only 28" of water depth for shallow water applications, while the Evolution Series requires only 20" of depth. •Our design reduces float visibility to a minimum during operation. •We use only stainless steel submersible motors with mechanical seals and heavy duty bearings. •Pump components consist of stainless steel, bronze and engineered plastics. •Most display Aerator patterns are interchangeable within the same horsepower. •Most Fountain patterns are interchangeable within the same horsepower. •An anit-clogging, 316 grade stainless steel suction screen is included with all products. •Underwater quick disconnects are included for pump and lights. •Deep suction with the vertical configuration provides bottom-to-top water movement for superior pond circulation. •Saltwater products are available and use 316 grade stainless steel components for superior anti-corrosion and durability.

Pond Aeration
Aeration is the transfer of oxygen from air into water. All healthy bodies of water need oxygen for the normal biological cycle. In large bodies of water, this occurs naturally as a result of wave action. In smaller lakes and ponds, it is easy for biological factors to become unbalanced, causing the oxygen levels to drop, making it necessary for mechanical aeration. Insufficient aeration and low oxygen levels can cause fish kills, unpleasant smells and unsightly water. Without sufficient circulation, a pond becomes stratified with warmer water on the surface and colder, oxygen-depleted water on the bottom. Lack of oxygen increases the anaerobic (without oxygen) decomposition of the sludge at the bottom. That increases nutrients in the pond, which, in turn, increases algae blooms. An uncirculated or non aerated pond or lake develops a thermocline. This is a stratification of the water by temperature. The warmer water is at the surface in contact with the air and the cooler water drops to the bottom where it becomes oxygen starved. Proper circulation and aeration will increase the amount of oxygen at all depths, and break down the thermocline. Aerating a pond provides a healthier habitat for fish, reduces algae blooms, improves water clarity and rids the pond of bad smells. Aeration also improves the effectiveness of bacterial products that reduce nutrients and improve water clarity.

Definition of a Floating Display Aerator
There has been much confusion in the industry regarding the definition of an aerator. The Aqua Control
definition is very specific: only high pumping rate, axial (propeller) pumps are called Aerators because
good aeration can only be achieved by high pumping rates. Our Display Aerators pump high flow rates relative to the horsepower while creating very attractive patterns that have a high aeration efficiency. Fountains, on the other hand, are created with centrifugal pumps which produce higher patterns, but with much lower flow rates. We feel that these pumps should not be called Aerators or even Aerating Fountains even though their splash does create some aeration.

DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO CHEAP, HOMEMADE FOUNTAINS, TYPICALLY CONSTRUCTED OF AN ENERGY HUNGRY SUMP-PUMP ATTACHED TO A FLOAT! Understanding the above definitions will aide you in choosing a quality, EFFECTIVE aerator (fountain) for your system.

The Evolution Series fountain was developed from three basic ideas: simple to assemble and maintain, low cost to operate, and patterns that look great. This evolution of ideas brought about a fountain that has four main parts (float, suction screen, throat, and motor), a cost to operate of approximately five cents per hour, and spray patterns that rival most large scale fountains. Along the way we built in another important aspect: quality. Build your customized fountain here. We offer two different IMPORTANT solutions for your fountain needs. A DISPLAY AERATOR produces the pattern of a traditional fountain with a much "thicker" water display. The pattern created is much more resistant to wind and provides a higher flow rate for added aeration. FOUNTAINS will create the same patterns as the DISPLAY AERATOR but with higher water pressure resulting in higher and wider patterns. The FOUNTAINS will also aerate the pond very well.
